Santacara, whose original name is Cara, was founded by the Romans around the first century BC, on a settlement prior to the Iron Age, on a small mound, a terrace on the river Aragon.
It is a Spanish town located in the region of Navarra. Located in the merindad of Olite, in the county of the Ribera Arga-Aragon, it is only about 56km from Pamplona, 46km from Tudela, 23km from Tafalla, and surrounded by the municipalities of Mélida, Murillo el Fruto, Carcastillo, Rada, Pitillas...
From a geomorphological point of view, two relief units are distinguished: the fluvial lands, staggered from the low alluvial plain (1315 m) to that of the castle (422 m), in one of which the village is located.
The irrigated land with the cultivation of cereals such as corn, alfalfa and vegetables, and on the other hand the dry land, also with cereals as the predominant crop (mainly barley), vines and forage mainly make up the composition of the agricultural landscape of the municipality.
